any ony fancy a 306? >:(
-
but that is what everyone said about the mk4's at first, and now people have changed their minds
-
I like it, looks classy and tough.
-
Looks ok to me, not as nice as a 306 though, not as smooth and rounded off.
Still happy with my turbo though, and wouldn't want to change it.
-
I agree Pauly,
I'd rather stick with mine aswell ;)
-
I have to say the MKV is growing on me ,
I'd like to meet one in person
-
I prefere the MKIV head lights :-\
-
not very nice atall rather have my mk 4 turbo any day quick as fck,, 8)
-
The shape is growing on me after an initial 'urrrgh' phase.
What I do like the sound of is;
a) The chassis actually being up to the job of carrying a GTi badge and taking the fight to the focus (renound as the class-leader for chassis dynamics)
b) The DSG 'box from the V6 TT (I'm not old enough for a full auto yet, but I drive in london all day, so I wanna give my clutch foot a rest!!)
c) The range of engines - a 2 litre FSi Turbo with 200bhp? Yes please. A rumour of a 2.3L 5 cylinder diesel unit with more torque than you can shake a stick at? Don't mind if I do
I think if it can maintain the strengths of the Mk4 (build quality, comfort, overall pace) and deliver the driving dynamics the car mags are promising us, I think it will be an awesome, awesome car, and I for one will be getting one.
That is unless they announce a successor to the Corrado, in which case I'll cast it aside ion a heartbeat in favour of the coup! ;D
-
Corrado was the best VW ever :D
-
think mk5 looks ok, not too sure about the toyota avensis style headlamps, think they let it down, still like me mk4 and am buying a standard 85 mk2 8v 2mrw for our second car, havin a bit of an old skool revival!
-
I know what you mean, but think about how many people disliked the Mk III headlamps after the Mk II.....and the Mk IV's have just been an evolution of what was started with the MK III's. - The MK V's are just an even further evolution.
If this stye headlamp allows them to standardise on Xenon projector lamps accross the GTi range, instead of the 'candle power' stuff they're fitting at the moment, I'm all for them!
Top marks for the old school revival! I'm looking at buying a track day car over the winter, as a fixer-upper project for next summer, which will prob be a Mk I running a 16v lump, so I'll be old school-ing it too!
