I wish I could believe it just fell off how ever it doesn't look like it and this sucks. I wasn't even in any dodgy areas yesterday!

Bad luck mate. It used to be the VW badge that got nicked. I've had various badges pinched over the years and they are not cheap to replace. Just checked, all my badges are intact.
-
...looks alright, though!? I was going to do that mod...
-
ive already done that mod lol
-
Unlucky pal, are you going to replace? if so how much will a new one be?
-
I want to replace it yeah it looks so naked without it.
Dunno how much it cost tbh...
-
Have a think about replacing it with the mk4 red gti badge.
-
I've just bought one of these as I think the red goes well with the red surround on the front grille - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220570174081&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_3335wt_939

^^^ That's well tasty.
I was going to de-badge the 'GTI' on the front, but that looks good too.
-
Should arrive in 4 - 8 days so Ill add some pics once I got it on. I think it will look really nice on my black one.
-
Hey Alan
Wheres a good place to get those blacked out VW badges mate?
I also have a black gti, and fancy doing some cosmetic modding! got to start somewhere lol.

Happened to me on my mk5 when it was frozen.
About £15 to replace I think.
-
Alan that does look pretty sweet, awaiting your pics.

I had my first one done by dan_apps on here who painted it for me because he has big man love for me. Then I went into the back of someone so f**ked it all up and the people that did my minor front repair just ordered a new one from VW and painted it for me as part of the repair. I thought it would be rude not to upgrade so I got a carbon front grille aswell, you can just about make it out in this pic.
I've been told its fairly easy to do yourself if you know what your doing.
[pic whore mode] I think the black badge on black car makes it look that little bit meaner [pic whore mode]

Looks tasty!
-
I painted my front badge black myself.
About £15 for the materials from halfords - pack of wet & dry, primer and the paint. :afro:
That sounds a lot, but I was buying the paint and primer for another job anyway... ...

-
Looks real mean Al, this is one thing im definatly going to do!
have you got your back badge blacked-0ut too?
-
Nah, back is normal. I ummed and arred about doing that for ages but decided to leave that silver.
-
Arrived this morning, just got it now on way in from work. Will put it tomorrow afternoon and see how it goes :)

The T is a tiny bit wonkey but you cant notice it from a distance, and for £15 you cant go wrong. Ii it looks really bad (wonky T wise) then Ill just put the old one back on :)

At least you have an old one to go on
-
haha yeah I didnt mean to rub it in :D
-
Well, so far so, so bad lol
Its not as simple to fit as you think, my front grille is currently in the spare room at the moment, im failing horribly. Need to get the drill out but its got no battery left :(
Its not the same clip as the orginal so wont just clip back in, will need some modding to get it to fit.
-
A total pain to fit. I decided against drilling as I want to be able to put the old one off so took a hack saw to the badge and stuck it on with strong adhesive pads.
Im still undecided so may well still put the old one back on :undecided: :undecided: :undecided:

is it smaller than the original?
-
Same size, but letters are thinner and more spaced out.
Its comes with a universal clip which is a load of bollocks.
