Looking into this at the moment. S2 bottom end, manifold/turbo from the states.

I'm here, had a bit of PC trouble lately :(.
If you are turboing a 1.8 valver you can use Audi pistons and a exhaust manifold from the US as Solo has said. There is a lot of good info on the forums at
www.vwvortex.com
I have made a custom exhaust manifold and are using a Garrett t3 turbo (good for 200+hp) and have made and fitted a programmable engine management system to handle fuel and spark (more info and pics to follow). A lot of people fit a G60 engine management for fuel and spark, you can use your k jet and a extra injector controller for fuel, but you will need something to retard the timing on boost (or throw in a lot of fuel ;)). To be honest, if you don't want to spend a lot of evenings researching info, machining and making parts rebuilding engines and g/boxes etc, look at doing a 20v turbo like diz. I went this route because I wanted something different ( and a hard life ;)).
