got the 17705 come up again , pain in the arse ! cant find leak , done tb clean and reset , have a newish 007 , have kn panel , changed the valve in intake hose -n75? clear code and all is fine for days/weeks then like this morning slight hesitant in revs on bypass , like boost then lack of . scanned and have the dredded 17705 . clear code and it goes a lot better till next time .
Has anyone actually found a fault that is common or that actualy fixed this fault ?

Found out tonight that Dai-Cymru's old Golf was down to a faulty MAF.
New on has been fitted, code has disappeared and not much can keep up with it :laugh: :laugh:

mine seems to have reappeared, but I haven't actually noticed anything wrong with the car?

DV is generally the cause if it's still the standard one, but if it's not an obvious boost leak then it's usually a split pcv/vac line or dodgy throttle body.

I sympathise with Snap-on and Mk1Macca...exactly the same position here. Have looked for leaks, replaced things, cleaned things and cant get rid of the code :angry:
And as already said, the appears to be nothing wrong with the car (in fact, on the motorway today, I got a nice 45.2mpg - not seen those figures in a while!). It's just annoying me the code is there (no light on dashboard though)

Another odd one i remember was a dodgy map sensor which was chucking out odd readings but only when on idle.. hold at 2k rpms and the fault stayed gone!

i dont get light on dash either as with most people . i get around 27mpg but i do have a dodgy theromstat ! mine runs fine just this morning seemed wierd so scanned and found the code again .
will have a good look soon as my new cambelt kit , waterpump and fanbelt turned up from the dealer at a nice cheap £119 all in , and i will be putting the car on the ramp sat to renew all those parts and have a good look around for a boost leak/split pipe at same time ! oh and change thermo too !
like im really looking forward to doing all that on a saturday !!!

Dai told me he changed this so it was the last thing i replaced when we took it out originally to clean it - we took it from the maf casing took the sensor out and found it had no resistor and to be honest could not see any way it had been fixed there as the mounting contacts were very clean , so put new bosch maf in and its like a new car. The MAF does not show a fault with no resistor either !!!

found this on mine also when i scanned mine about half an hour ago (to clear airbag light fault) long time since mine came up tbh done away with all the pcv pipework on mine so one of the other places i think on mine thats showing evidence of a little oil is the chargepipe the hose that joins the lower pipe to the i/c saw this awhile ago when replacing the lower hoses gave the mentioned one a wipe over and noticed its wet again for now it can stay as its a b!tch to get at i cleared the code and will check again at the weekend cars perfectly fine tho so i'l just ignore it
