Title: Torque setting for Cv Joint

Going to be replacing my inner cv joint one at the gearbox was just wondering what the i think its 6 spline headed bolts that hold the system to gearbox and torque'd upto?

Do it up until its tight !! i just someone to sit in car and put there foot on the brake as i tighten one up then off brake , turn to get to next one then foot on brake again etc etc .
i just use a snap on 3/8 ratchet and long reach spline and do em up tight as you can . on o/s the shorter one i use a 3/8 mini airgun as you can get a gun in that side !!

its the passenger side mate so is that the airgun side or?

so i take it there pritty tight then? dont want to go at them tight if there on torqued upto like 50nm and i end up fooking it

yeh passenger side , you wont fook it up never had one snap before . some are very tight on undoing so mind ya knuckles !! just make sure the spline sockect is right in the head cos if not you will round it off !! tap it in with hammer before undoing .

according to bentley manual its 10Nm diagonally initially then 40Nm diagonally again

in a diagonal sequence.. so tighten up opposite bolts 10nm then 40nm in the same pattern rather than tighten them up in a circle.

okay so think if i tightened them up with an air gun got a large chance strip it mate?

he said mini-airgun :wink: i wouldn't go attacking it with a half inch impact gun :grin:

as in the instructions are you doing right click - save as ?
