Hello All
I picked up my much anticipated ED30 yesterday and am absolutely thrilled with it!! :laugh:
Just one thing I cannot seem to work out at the moment, so hoping you can help
I have the DVD Sat Nav and have noticed that as a consequence I do not have the stalk end control for the MPG (trip computer)
When I drove the car for the first time it displayed the MPG which was great
Now though it shows a static 25.5 MPG with a symbol like a zero with a line through it and the number 2 above.
I have checked the manual but cannot work out how I change the display
Can anyone help me out as I am probably having a senior moment here (or just plain thick, delete as applicable)
Thanks!!
Mark

Does is still have the larger round button in the middle of the bottom of the stalk...? Hard to explain something so easy!
It's marked on the stalk with something like "OK // Re-Set" ?
Press that and it should go back to 1. :nerd:
'1' being 'live' MPG
'2' being continuous MPG

Thanks for the reply - just off to the car park to check :smiley:
-
...where is this carpark? :tongue:
-
No button on the stalk - sussed it out now though as hadn't tried using the numerous buttons on the steering wheel...(been a bit too excited just driving it and looking at the Sat Nav) :rolleyes: :embarassed:
Thanks for your help anyway :wink:

The two things are mutually exclusive. All Golfs have the ability to control the trip computer, regardless of whether a satnav is fittedor not.
As above, the stalk on the right hand side has a toggle up/down which goes through the trip computer, either cycling forwards or backwards depending on whether you press up or down. There's a button at the bottom of the stalk which is used for resetting the mpg reading.

Will do - not had a chance to take any as yet :smiley:

This is what you should have:

It is the stalk on the right hand side of the wheel. Present on all MK5 Golfs as far as I'm aware.

Hi Stealthwolf :smiley:
My stalk does not have any control other than for the speed of the windscreen wipers
All controls for the trip are through the steering wheel controls only.
That was why I was so confused intially as I thought there must be something on the stalk, but there is not.
All is fine now though as I have been able to adjust things accordingly Thanks

Is your car an import?
-
My Ed30 is UK main dealer and has MFSW and has no toggles on the RHS stalk as far as I'm aware?
-
Strange. I've sat in different Golfs incl diesel, GTI, ED30 all with/without satnav and they all had the right hand stalk in the above picture. This is irrespective of whether there is midline or highline fitted and irrespective of MFSW.
I'd ask the dealer about it.

Hi - The car is definitely not an import. Checked the manual and noted the following differentiation;
Before diagram of the windscreen wiper lever showing button A and rocker B;
"Applies to vehicles with multi-function display , navigation system or supplementary heating system, WITHOUT multi-function steering wheel"
Then before diagram of multi-function steering wheel;
"Applies to vehicles: with multi-function display, navigation system or supplementary heating system WITH multi-function steering wheel"
So nothing to worry about then.. :smiley:

Assuming you do find out how to change the display. Have you tried pressing all the buttons on the wheel?...
The circle with the line through means 'average'. There are 2 trip computers: No.1 is for your current journey (resets 2 hrs after switch off) and No.2 is total since manual reset.
Your display is showing the average mpg since it was last reset. You normally reset with the hidden button on the underside of the wiper stalk (but you say you haven't got one.) Until you reset, this mpg figure will not change much. You will also be able to bring up other info, like average speed, miles to empty tank etc.

Hi DJ GTI - per my previous post I have worked out how to do everything using the buttons on the steering wheel now.
I have found the other stats as mentioned and now know that a reset of the average MPG is done by holding down the OK button on the steering wheel.
Definitely do not have any button on the underside of the stalk....dont need one either.
Cheers Mark
