Has anyone used the dealer to sell their car on sale or return basis. I want to sell mine but do not have time to spend advertising and then waiting around for people to turn up and kick the tyres. My local dealer says they will have the car and return the monies if sold....anyone been down this route and what are your thoughts?

Never done it personally but it's not an unknown way to sell a car.
Depends on what the dealer wants out of it really compared to what they'd offer you just to buy it themselves on trade terms.
If the dealer will accept a part exchange on it and move that on themselves then it could be a good idea as most people who buy a newish car have a part exchange to move. The dealer will obviously take a cut and the bit they're really after will be a finance deal.
Weigh up the options, but it's not an unreasonable idea especailly with a newish warranted car.

I've done it plenty with my motorbikes, dealer would sell it off and allocate funds to next bike of choice. No commission on his part as he is selling another bike to me, making a profit on the finance of my bike and doesn't have to tie up his cashflow by buying my bike off me.

need to weigh the financials up against somewhere like webuyanycar.com. Also dealers are often less likely to push the sale of your car over others on the forecourt where they have better margin. Unlikely to feature on vw approved website for national exposure. And you'll have a monkey washing it in bright sunshine every other day til it's sold or you get it back.

I'd approach the dealer.
I've had the same success as Gossa in the past with two wheels but not four.
As we say on Tyneside: Shy Bairns Get Nowt!

This is what I am concerned about plus someone racking up the miles.
