Title: Radio help PLZ, AM, FM, LW, MW
Post by: asif on 15 March 2010, 14:03
Ok hopefully this is a quick and easy question.

I'm trying to listen to this programme you guys may havee heard of called talksport on 1089/1053 AM.

Only problem is my Alpine IDA x-100 stereo only has 3 FM's fook knows why, LW and MW only. I don't have AM on my stereo.

I can pick up FM just fine but can;t seem to get anything on LW and MW.
Someone recently told me that either LW or MW is actually AM, is that correct?
If that is correct how comes I can't get anything on either of them?

The LW is only 3 digits so can't be that as I wouldn't be able to get 1089/1053 MW is 4 digits but when I go to that station nothing comes up, any ideas?

MW = AM

Are you sure you're in the right area to pick up Talk sport? Might be that the signal isn't strong enough? Have you changed ariels on your car?

Why a pic of the aerial mate?

I'm getting FM clearly, so can it still be the aerial?

Why a pic of the aerial mate?
Hi
Because some aerials have a built in amplifier to help improve the AM stations.

Ok cool mate, i'll try getting a pic of my aerial when I get a chance.
If the aerial has a amplifier on it what am I looking for on the aerial?

Hi
You are checking that you are getting 12v to the aerial amplifier when the radio is ON.
