Title: Horn not working
Post by: Dmonday on 14 March 2010, 22:27
ran into another problem, trying to sort everything out for MOT next month but just discovered that my horn isnt working, it's the later model steering wheel with 2 buttons for the horn. Im not sure weather this has worked since i bought the car as i have never used it, anyone got ideas where to start looking?

cheers, Dan

Remove the airbag and check the connections behind it.

If you ever need a horn, I have both from my old 16v. I have no idea why I kept them, but they're in the shed.

Check the plugs on the horn, they may have come off, or may need cleaning up

One of them is behind your drivers side lower bumper grill

The other one is further up if I remember correctly

ill go have a quick look now, cheerrrs

EDIT: Okay so i had a look and i can hear the horn making a really faint clicking noise asif it's trying to work, and if i turn the engine on and press it a few times then turn it off i can hear like a hissing noise and then a very faint pop and it stops, asif air is escaping somewhere between the engine and the 1st horn

I'm sure mines tied into the alarm siren. Where you use the little key to turn it off or on.

im not sure mine is

i checked tonight and there is 2 plugs hanging out where my airfilter used to be (replaced with aftermarket) that's about all i can find at fault  havent had chance to check behind the airbag but i can tell the buttons are working correctly as i hear a clicking from the dashboard when i press either one
