I know it's not a golf but my passat has abs issues and I've being told it's either dirty abs sensors or one could be broken (although vag-com dosent say so!)
is there any way of easily removing the sensors to clean (I know there held in with a metal insert and simply push fit but people seem to break them getting them out!).. is it loads of wd40, a mallet and hoping for the best or can I clean them in situ?

they should come out easy just twist them a bit as you pull them out using a bit of wd40 to help :smiley:

no codes..and the abs kicks in just before stopping (last few mph) and it vibrates through the brake pedal! (checking a few forum's a few cars have had similar issues and dirty/worn sensors seem to be the common answer)

Ok, best thing to check as well is the abs rings on the cv joints as they corrode and come free from the joint making the abs think the wheels locked up activating the abs. :smiley:

The sensors should come out easily, i think they are a push fit like the Audi's.

audia8 they are push fit but it seems they can get stiff with age (they have metal insert too which apparently makes them a snug fit!)
vwdan80 I have heard about abs ring issues and someone said they used epoxy resin and stuck them..first I'm going to tap them with a malet as some people seem to of cured similar issues (something to do with the gap and I know it had some front suspension work last year and maybe they disturbed the sensors?)

Yeah the gap is easy to get wrong too, sensor could have been rubbing on the abs ring if someone didnt put it back properly :smiley:

Sounds the same as the Audi fitment.
I've never had a problem removing one, just twist it back and foward until it frees itself.
