Title: MAS/MAF Battery does it have to be.......
Post by: lakzzr on 13 March 2010, 22:48
Hi all,

Before fitting a brand new  MAF/MAS does the battery have to be disconnected before replacing?

The original is faulty as everytime the car starts jerking around, I disconnect the unit and the jerking stops and can the originals be repaired?

When I had mine replaced the battery wasn't removed and i'm all good, so I'd say the answer is now mate.

If its faulty i wouldnt think it could be repaired. They can be cleaned if dirty, but then they are sensitive to this and cleaning the terminals can cause damage ive heared.
If you know its a MAF problem i would just get a replacement.
Word of advice - VW charge 92 quid exchange price, Euro car parts charge around 55 quid exchange price. Both genuine bosch items, so if you can get to a Euro car parts you will save nearly half price! Got mine the other week

Thanks guys, the one I brought was the wrong one anyway, so blew out all crap from the original and sprayed it with Electrospray, worked for about 50 miles and then started to jerk again.

Will get one in from EuroParts this week.
