Title: cambelt prices

i have a 1.8t agu engine and is about ready for cambelt chang mr clutch seem to have reasonable prices

which bracket will mine be under up to 1900cc but which price cheers

VW dealers in Bury have a deal on, Cambelt & water pump for £345 inc VAT

Im paying £220 inc vat today, and they are throwing in a free water pump with metal impellor  :cool:

yeah, local independent, I always use em now.

cambelt kit, plus vat, labour plus vat. £220 all in.

My 1.8 T is booked in my local Dub specialist, £280 for Genuine belt and pump fitted, and a oil and filter service. not bad i thought. i got quoted £430 for the same with non genuine parts for a "motorsports" outfit

ring and speak to them first.. looking at the disclaimers at the bottom those prices probably don't apply to the 1.8t golf.

its just cost me £119 inc vat for genuine dealer cambelt kit , waterpump and fanbelt at trade price to me . i just need to do it now !!!
phoned my local dealer and they said 3.5hrs work but will do it for me at 2.5 hours at £82.50 + vat per hour . think is was about £225 inc vat just to do it !!!!

i was gonna do it tonight but didnt have a ramp free plus when your fixing them everyday the last thing you wanna do is spend the night doing the above on your own car !!!

doing a zafira 2td clutch and dualmass today on an 04 plate , what an arse job . complete subframe and rack out job just to get box out !!! i then thought do i really wanna to my cambelt tonight ===== NO

The water pump with the metal impellor is that from the dealers aswell or do they sell you the plastic one?

vw sell the plastic ones, but apparently it's a different/improved composite that doesn't weaken like the old ones did. Unfortunately i don't know anyone who's tried one of the revised ones for more than about 20k miles so the jury is still out on that one. I still recommend the metal impellor ones which you can get from german swedish or central autos.. those types of places. They're usually cheaper too.

I'm on 11K with the revised water pump impeller so will let you know when I hit 20K
