Title: cant get reverse in my gti

bought a gti last week just the 1.8 non turbo, but when i try to select first , i have to push down  and into reverse. this put it in 1st,  when trying to select reverse, its pretty much imposable.. any ideas?

gear linkage sounds like to might be wrong tho.

is this something i can adjust? or will have to replace... where should i be looking mate?

you can adjust them but i wouuldnt know how to m8,the linkage is on the right hand side when you open the bonnet.

Correct me if im wrong, but surely you shouldnt mess with gear linkages... garages use a jig to set them up correctly ? Sorry if im wrong.

Ps. you can pop them off and grease them up as i once did, pain to get back on though!!! .. but not adjust anything!?

you could be right m8 but like i said i wouldnt know how to,so yea you prob do need a garage to do this.

Put up a picture of the linkage cables just above the gearbox.
