Title: Tyre Life ETA ?
Post by: pom on 12 March 2010, 16:35
How long can you expect the tyres to last on the GTD170 ?

Given that I will definately be abusing them from time to time

thanks

Me thinks they will be Dunlop's , you should get about 8-10 thousand out of them?? But cant be sure really of which tyre its going to be?

I had a 170 break A3 with the same engine and I drove like it was a hire car, got about 19000 for the fronts, not sure on the rears.

From experience of several GTIs.

GTD - not sure, but you're certainly not able to abuse the tyres so - a lot longer than a GTI.

i aint so sure, torque wears tyres not power, and GTD's have loads more torque than GTI's...

Astra 150 BHP lasted 13000 first set and then about 14000 for the second set, rear were still fine. They were sport contact 2 quiet a soft tyre with superb grip for that car. I'm hoping for the same from these battle axes that are on the GT with a tweak making it 175 BHP ish. That would do me

on the mk5 gti i had the fronts would wear out at about 7k and rears at about 13k
but the leon fr 150 tdi remaped i had to swap fronts for rears regularly and the tyres would last 10k car had suden gush of torque that would spin up the front wheels on overtaking
both cars traking and alighnment were ok
but i do have 40 miles to work and back on A4085
