Helloooow,
Can anyone give me any help/advise? Im wondering wether or not to get the gti re-maped.
I dont drive it perticularly hard. But when i do, i want a bit more from it, if you know what i mean?! I can't decide wether offset of the cost of remaping & fuel is worth the smile id get every so often. :undecided:
its prpbably to do with the fact that i've got usd to the performance, but i feel like i want a bit more on the odd occasion i give it some beans down the odd country road.
If you think its worth it then some recomendations would be greatly appriciated.

My car is not re-maped but from what iv read on this forum it is well worth doing and will put a big smile on your face :grin:, if u read the sticky post
at the top of the mkv gti page 'remaps reviews' that might help somewhat.
Also im not 100% but im pritty sure mapping doesnt use any more fuel and in some cases can use less.

That depends on how oftern you want the smile, and the right foot!! |If i had my car mapped it be very addictive , and so would use a lot more petrol or diesel?? But yes it got loads ++++

when mine was mapped it didnt notice much in the way of fuel consumption, it was totally worth doing though! :smiley:

Ive just rear sticky post on remaping, now my head hurts lol. i didnt realise that there were so many different options :shocked, but everyone that's had it done doesn't seem to have a bad word to say on the issue.
Also it sounds like fuel isnt too much of a issue. Unless as clint says i become addicted to the heavy right foot, and cane it everywhere i go. :wink:
I think further reserch is needed :smiley:

Got my gti remapped last week, chose Revo for the mapp, am thrilled with the result! sooo much extra power on tap.
Feels like a different car! but in a good way :evil:
I drive fairly steady most of the time, todays drive home from work i averaged 38mpg, thats 65mph on dual/c and 50mph on the back roads, which i normally get 35/36mpg!
The mapp is so smooth, with no lag what so ever! but put your right foot down hard 3000rpm and upwards and thats where you will feel a tremendous difference!

Remapping a car wont causing you to use you more petrol, in most cases you actually use LESS as you have more useable torque, this meaning you dont have to put you foot down as far when driving normally.
The reason you often find that you use more petrol in a remapped car is because you inevitablely drive it harder than a non mapped one. My car is remapped and I can get 30mpg EASY out of it with normal driving.

The GTI is definitely a car that begs to be remapped. :cool:
Just be aware that once you get on the slope of modding it can become addictive :embarassed: :evil:

Also beware of the insurance costs.... I'm thinking of a stage 1 map. Today I got a quote for £390 for a stage 1 remap on a standard GTI whereas I normally pay around £230.
