Ordered a GT TDI 170 DSG yestersday  roll on may/june for delivery.
As the supplying dealer is miles away I want to be 110% thourough on taking delivery so need a list of what bits and bobs (cables etc)I need to check should be with the car and other things to look out for. I am a first time VW buyer so don't really know what to be looking out for. I did see a list on another thread but it was for last years model so not sure how much of it is applicable.
thanks!

That the MK6 you ordered there mate? Great car , have you tried the search on here for it? Wellcome to the forum lad.

1 Check all the optional extras
2 IPlop lead as well as the USB lead is supplied.
3 Check the condition of all the bodywork, wheels and interior, fog lights for stone chips (if its got cosmetic damage its going to be down to you once you drive away).
4 Marks on wheels from lashing ratchet strap from the transporter lorry.
5 Look very carefully for any small dents or chips. Crouch low and look along the sides of the vehicle and all around for anything out of the ordinary. If the car is outside and it has been raining tell the dealer you will be inspecting the car as soon as it is dry as you wouldn't see anything small if wet.
6 Check panel allignment
7 Check the fit of the doors (front especially) up at the top of the window towards the rear.
8 Have a good look at the seats (make sure you got Euro seats not USA!) and the fit of all the trim inside.
9 Check the transport blocks have been removed from the suspension springs
10 Check the blanking grommits are in the front wheel arch liners stopping water getting to the foglights.
11 Check under the rear of the car too as it is known for them to slip on the transporter!
12 English Manuals in leatherbound GTI holder
13 Make sure all other documents are in the vehicle wallet.
14 Radio security code has been input.
15 Make sure there are no stray rags/cloths in the engine compartment,
16 Make sure they have filled in and stamped the PDI part of the service book
17 Bottle opener in the centre compartment (in between gear stick and armrest), dealers like to keep these.
18 Check the rear hatch top corners the covers can scratch this location.
19 Check VIN numbers match between the car and documentation
20 Make sure you are set up for the service regime you want (Longlife or time & distance)
21 If there is no top up oil in a little bag in the boot ask for some.
22 Check the bolt caps have been inserted in the holes on the wheels
23 Drop the windows right down, and then put them back up on auto (so push/pull knob the double click and don't hold it). Make sure the windows don't drop when they're about an inch from shut.
24 But dont worry too much about making sure all the electric stuff works (if there is a fault with the car its covered by warranty anyway) just concentrate on the stuff that the retailer can shirk responsibility for later.
25 Key adapter for locking wheel nuts (should be in the boot, with the spare wheel)
26 Two keys with remote locking functions, plus plastic key tag - with serial number, for ordering replacement key if necessary.
27 Tyre pressures (once they have cooled down) - they leave the factory at 55 psi (set for long term storage)
28 Check oil level, and all fluid levels are correct and not at low shipping levels.
29 Drive home with enormous smile on your face.

What was the reaction of the dealer ?
I'm guessing no signing for the car until the checks are done.

-
what is considered acceptable delivery mileage ?
Personally I will be looking for single figures when collecting from the dealer.
Would say 100 miles on it be acceptable ?

10 miles max, (or I'd be poking someones eye out.)

Pom mate,
I worked through the checklist yesterday at my dealers, he was fine about it and we had a laugh and a joke about it. He left me alone for 15 minutes while I carried it out.
As for mileage, mine had 8 miles on the clock.

grats on the new motor
3 months more for me

Mine will be driven down from Telford to London on the 22nd March. At least 150 miles on the clock! Could not face the journey to and from Telford myself.
The transporter would have cost £250. Refused to pay.
Hope the driver does not can it. He is supposed to be one of their 'Dad's Army' ex police drivers!

you could check the journey timer and mpg when he arrives....it would an indication...good luck.

i`ve been to that dealership ,they are all under 25 and wear burberry baseball caps
-
Just check on the MFA the average speed and mpg when it arrives should give you some idea of how its been driven.
-
Thanks for the advice.
I am a bit worried about the delivery drive down now.
The last car I had delivered had a kerbed offside front wheel and 2 stone chips on the bonnet!
Maybe, just maybe, I should go and pick it up.
-
Another thing to add is check the reg number on the car is correct and tallies up with the tax disc, insurance doco and the DVLA printout thingie.
Also, I didnt get a red leather / ring bound GTI badged document wallet in the glove box. I just got a standard VW wallet. I pointed this out to my salesbloke and he promptly got the keys to a 2nd hand mk6 that was on the forecourt, that one DID have the GTI bound one, so he swapped them over for me!

"2 IPlop lead as well as the USB lead is supplied."
I'm probably blind but can't see in the brochure where it says the leads are supplied ? Any pointers ?
thanks
