My 2003 Rear GTI badge is all chrome coloured. Should the "I" be red?
I'm wondering if its had a new boot lid at some point...

If it has a red "I" it means it originally came with a flux capacitor. They are quite pricey to replace, so keep an eye on it.

The ones without the red paint on the 'i' are also lighter, VW did this to save weight :smiley:

Not bothered about the badge, just noticed this and the bolts on the boot lid hinge look like they've been removed at some point..

Did the previous owner mention anything or did you ask?

HPI was clear - no issues at all.
Thats not to say something hasn't been repaired by the owner etc.
It is clear that she used her driveway walls for touch parking :rolleyes: so I guess she may have had a bump at some point. Overall its quite clean - just noticed the boot lid hinges - hence the badge question would back up the theory its been painted at some point..

The general consenus is that basically they stuck what ever badge they had to hand on. Some have all chrome, some have the red I all the same mate!

doesnt the red I indicate a slight diffrence to do with the turbo? thats what i was told anyway :rolleyes: maybe wrong but i cant be right "all the time" lol

Maybe in the past someone removed the badge, then the next wanted a badge on and that was the only badge they could get.

Talking of badges was stuck behind another mk4 yesterday, still had all the badges on but with some added extras.
