My finance guy spoke to VW Customer Care today and was told that my car has been shipped and is in the UK - if that's the case, when might I get the car?
-
1-2 weeks
-
I thought a week, didn't think two - anyway, all moving in the right direction...thanks
-
How longs a bit of string?

When you getting your motor mate? My god its been long time Snoopy???
-
My dealer said the general rule is that you should get the car 2-3 weeks after the build week...
Apparently there is a bit of a hold up with the shipping just now though?

Thats what my sales bloke has said from the beginning, 2-3 weeks from buid week.. My car was on ship on the 6th March, in the UK port on the 8th March, at my dealers yesterday, and picking up today. 6 days from Emden.

7 seater, Steve - I like the Toureg but not 7 seats and more expensive to run than XC 90 - I think the XC 90 is the least offensive of the large 4x4s - anyway, I shouldn't have mentioned it - back to Golf Gti's...

If its in the uk probably not long.
Iirc you got it from Pulmans so in theory  its been shipped into the tyne dock?
-
Fancy letting me have a look at it when you get it James? As i need something to help me get through this wait for mine. :embarassed:

Snoops:
You will get yours this coming week I am sure.
Then both you and James can have a blast!
What good fun.
-
Certainly, Snoops, no problem - I'd live to think I'll get it this week but I don't have that feeling - I'll keep you posted...
-
James,
I have been at pulmans this morning for something so I had a bit of a snoop about to see if i could see your GTI in the workshop or out the back but could not see it there.
-
Tyne Dock, Snoopy??
-
If they say its in the UK and its coming in at the tyne (i would expect so but you never know with dealers  ) then i guess its at the dock or the holding compond they use slightly further along the tyne
Pulmans did not seem that busy (were preping a couple of polos when i was there) so i guess as soon as they get it, it will not take long for you to get it
-
Thnx, Snoops - I'll ring the dealership tomorrow to ask for an update...
-
Delivery time howabout Friday 2nd of April 10.00 AM...
I am thinking about driving from the dealer straight to a nice hotel in Germany (3 hours) for an Easter week-end with my wife...
-
...and I've just had some great news....not! my car finance guy told me last week, following his own enquiries, that the car had been shipped and was now in the UK - I asked the dealer for an update today and he tells me that the status is still 'awaiting ship'    someone's right and someone's wrong - statement of the obvious! - Apparently, the finance company has shares in VW so that might put them close (ish) to the reality of the situation but, then again, surely the dealer knows what's going on - I guess it's possible that VW haven't updated the status on the computer records - the dealer said that he has put in a call to VW and expects an update tomorrow....watch this space...
-
James you have PM
-
Confirmation - still in Emden  been there for about 10 days, perhaps almost 2 weeks...
-
Someone said that if its been there about 15 days the dealer can put it in as a priority order and get it on the next ship.
Mines stuck in bletchley
-
there is a time limit, Snoops - I can't remember how many days it is but my dealer mentioned it today - I asked him if it could be sitting in Germany for another week and he mentioned the time limit - whatever...one would think we've all got Bugattis on order, not (with respect to all you guys who love Golf Gti's/GTD's/R's) a Golf!
