Starter motor?? Could be cream crackered
Maybe your alternator is fooked and it killed the battery so wouldn't start the car??

happend with mine was starter motor

give the solenoid on top of the starter, a wee series of taps from a toffee hammer, may be sticking.
Or your ignition switch has gone, and its not making the start connection?
-
Sounds like a solenoid to me. Do the lights dim as you turn the key?
