Post by: deep_thought42 on 11 March 2010, 11:08
Just got my New GTI on Sat, and the following day some women was revving her engine next to me.

Well I could not resist it, and just floored it lol.....

lol bet you do.... at least once.

when I floored it though the car just made a thudding nice, I assume that was wheel spin?

Wont be doing that again.... tyres are not cheap.

Any way still smoked them lol

...and he or she takes less than 4-odd seconds to get from 0-62mph? not sure where nor how the hamster comes into this discourse...

the thudding feeling when flooring it off the lights is the traction control kicking in

turn it off and you will accelerate alot smoother

mother has a C4S convertible  -  as it happens, it's so not me  -  I'm 6ft tall and find getting in and out of it, and sitting so close to the ground, is not good for me  -  I'll be perfectly happy with the Gti.

More like wheel hop rather than wheelspin ?
With the grip of the tyres the engine and box move rather than the tyres spinning, causing the wheels to bounce (me thinks) had it a few times on mine sounds like the front end is falling off,
Didn't have that problem with the softer winter tyres, they just dug in and took off.
