Title: G12++
Post by: jmsheahan on 10 March 2010, 20:56
Very quick query on this - will G12++ be ok for a mk2 8v? Whole system is being flushed anyway but wondered what the difference was between G12, G12+ and G12++ ?

Thanks

Yes it will be fine.
Early G12 would not mix with G11, when mixed the coolant would go brown and the engine waterways would corrode quickly.
G12+ can be mixed safely.

Sorry to jump in but why is it necessary for mk2's to run g12 pink coolant and not just ordinary run of the mill blue stuff u get from motor factors?
I ask because my mate says i dont need the vw only stuff,am confused :undecided:

I would use red coolant, as its long life, but you don't need to get it from the dealers.

Thanks. Bit confusing as I had to get that from the mk4 section on vwspares as it lists G11 for mk2's. Also read G12++ has lifetime corrosive properties but quite why you'd never change the coolant I don't know  :huh:

Anyway, cheers for the reply.
