Title: Modded dials
Post by: spear on 10 March 2010, 19:41
right finally got round to taking some pics, not that pleased with them tbh honest as they dont so the dials any justice at all.
Basically i've put a strip of uv leds in the slot that the old green filter used to sit in and changed the needles to anni orange/red ones. Also sprayed the dial surround matt black to reduce the light reflection.

Trust me there is so much glow off the needles that i have to turn the brightness down or i keep looking at them when i'm driving!!! the pictures dont really show this well enough

and here they are..

full brightness

but the original is the best of course...  and the green is a clash = needs to be red or blue

mine are so bright i cant even focus on them

these are the clocks with SMDs behind the screens so no filters, this is the real deal

Sorry for poor pics, my camera is useless.

The screens are going red once the leds turn up!

Switches will remain secret until they're ALL done

Kells, yours do look good i have to admit. Thought I'd try going down a diff route and just get the white numbers to show up rather than the whole dials. they dont glow quite as much as i hoped but the needles are awesome.  just a shame that the uv glow doesnt show too well in the pics.
It was a bit of an experiment having tried green leds etc but i'm well pleased with them and actually quite like the green, i had to keep something green as it a green car after all

i haven't done any other lights/switches, but might do something with the heater dials one day.
