hi guys just bough a mk3 golf gti 8v off a mate after it sat on his drive for a year because he lost the keys, ive replaced the ignition lock but the standar immobilser is kicking in, is there anyway to bypass this without spending a fortune on reprogramming?
what circuit does it cut out? was hoping maybe it was something silly like the fuel pump??
also if i was to replace transponder and ignition for a matching key would it work or would i need to replace ecu aswell?
thanks

Best bet would be to take some lube into a dealers or specialist and get them to code it AKAIK. :(

lol not going down that route

Compatible Key ECU and Imob from breakers, maybe it will work? defo a lot of arsing around.
i am with the lube at least its painless

Go to scrappies and get an ECU and key and you should be good.

need to get a matched ecu, transponder box and key and you'll be alright. just be aware, there are 3 different engine managment setups available for the mk3 8v, so make sure you get the right ecu!
alternatively if you get a matched transponder box and key, you can match these to your ecu with vag-com.
