Title: Looking for some guidance relating the RNS510/Dynaudio......
Post by: JJH on 09 March 2010, 22:46
I'm looking for some info regarding the RNS510. I've specced a RCD510 and am considering purchasing a RNS510 to replace it.
I have also specced Dynaudio and am not sure if I replace the RCD, will the Dynaudio work without having to select a specific version of the RNS to allow the Dynausio to function.
Basically, will the 'any' 'C' version RNS510 work with Dynaudio?
I appreciate the Dynaudio logo may note appear on the start up display but I'm not concerned by that.
thanks in advance,
cheers,
Jon

The dynaudio will work fine after the Rns has been coded properly, even the logo will show on the start screen

The Rns doesn't have to be a specific version has the dynaudio has been available since the Rns was fitted to the first vw models.

Cheers

As you have answered his question Darren, may I jump in ?

do you know of a way of getting the DAB receiver in the RCD510 moved/swapped over into the RNS510 ?

unfortunately its not possible kev, the dab tuner is linked to the motherboard in the Rcd510 so without serious damage to the rcd there is no way oem.

But you could always buy one of these freeview modules on ebay that work with the rns510 have a look on ebay,

If you want the vw one prepare to pay over £1k for the dab box its used on the Rns810 in the pheoton and touereg(sp) for the tv and dab.

Cheers Darren, that looks like just the ticket!! My only concern is that you need a remote to operate it. is there nothing else that VW offer that allows you to control the unit through the rns510? Sorry to be picky:smiley:

Imagine what sort of picture you'd get when driving!!  Its bad enough trying to get Digital TV on my old portable out in the garage using a set top aerial.... I'd hate to think of what you'd get with a tiny aerial hidden in your dash!

I had peeople warn me about DAB, with it being hit or miss wither you get a signal when driving around. I've been all over, its crystal clear with a strong reception everywhere I go. I think half of the problem is most people like scare mongering (dont mean you i mean in general) , I'm sure the reception will just be fine with the tv.

You could buy this from VW but you better be sitting down....

Digital/Analog v receiver/tuner - 7L6 919 148A £1445.25
Chip card reader for tv system - 4F0 919 805  £119.26
holder for v receiver box         - 3C0 919 935A £17.21
Cover for the v receiver box    - 1K0 971 813C 9b9 £4.17
Bracket for the chip card read - 1K0 919 733A £4.70
Aerial amplifier for vehicle with tv system - 5K0 035 552E £35.49
Adapter wiring set for V receiver to chip card reader - 7L6 971 137 £25.38

You maybe able to find some of it on ebay.de but don't go for the 3C0 Tv receiver cos its for the Japan market RNS510 and wont work over here.

^^^^^^
And knowing VW, thats probably a price before VAT - which would make it almost £1950 inc!
