Few different techniques.....

Best bet is to use the search function on this one but as I'm waiting for something to install I'll share :)

Option 1  - (most common I believe) buy some red stripe tape, ebay has it I think then just run it round the grill.

Option 2 - is get some red paint and masking tape and just tape up either side of the stripe all the way round the grill, then just give it a couple coats of paint.

I did option two, takes a bit longer to do, esp if you want clean finish but I think it gives a much better result over all.

i gave the tape idea a go b4 bt it didnt wana go rd the corners properly

and the painting did you mean spray paint or hand painting also did you rub it down a little first.

I did option 2 aswell, I masked off the bits around the grill and just used some Hammerite and a paintbrush. Looks alright from a distance (if your picky, Hammerite Brilliant Red is brighter than the original grill red) and I did it on the car with no prep except wiping it down, no undercoat or overcoat. I don't think you need to with Hammerite, but if you were going to do it properly, then it prob would be a good idea to key it. If you're gonna spray it, its not gonna take much more effort to tape some paper down to cover the centre of the grill tbh

Hairdryer, makes tape curve easier. Or rather the heat provided by the hairdyer makes the tape more maleable.

On the grill? My preference is the fridge

There is an easier way of doing this, get a small detail decorators roller from a decorators shop, and use Humbrol enamel paint (Post box red) the type that is used to paint model aircraft. Degrease the grill with meths, and Scothbrite area to be painted, no need to mask! load the roller with paint, and give it one very light coat, leave 24 hours, then give it another... the finish will look like its been sprayed, any excess can be removed with White Spirit and a cotton bud.

I bought a pack of the above from the supplier listed....

You get more than you need, but not enough to redo above or below the headlights if you wreck it or break it....

Taking the grill off the car makes for easier access.

Clean the area where the stripe is to go thoroughly with T cut or 1000 wet/dry paper.

Warm the grill plastic with a hairdryer - a little at a time and feed the red stripe vinyl on slowly and carefully. If you don't keep it straight and have to lift it off it will stretch and become thinner and possibly spoil the finish.

The curves above and below the lights take time and patience, but the tape will go on without wrinkles if applied a little at a time and rubbed on to the warm surface.

Result.... BRILLIANT....I wish I knew how to post a pic..
