Title: Time to detail - After some advice

Having owned my black MK5 Gti for a month now its looking extremely filthy and in need of a serious clean up. So after reading this section I have gone all out and bought this lot for a good detailing session:

Dodo Juice Born to be Mild Shampoo
Meguiars Quik Clay Detailing System
Autoglym Super Resin
Poorboys Black Hole Show Glaze
Chemical Guys Jetseal 109
Dodo Juice Purple Haze
Meguiars Lambswool Wash Mitt
Drying Towel 24" x 30"
Meguiars Even Coat Applicator Pads
Shagpile Double Density Towels

What I want to know is whether I should go for a stronger shampoo than the Dodo Juice Born to be Mild Shampoo for the initial wash so that it removes all the existing wax products on the paintwork from the previous owner/dealer?

I'm thinking a fresh start on the bare paint would be easier and better when claying/polishing.

Born to be Mild will be fine. The Clay will remove any old wax on the car anyway  :smiley:

Just read Jkctr's "Cleaning/detailing explained" post in the FAQ section, he mentions using fairy liquid to get rid of everything, I think I may go down this root and save the Dodo Juice once the car is fully detailed. Let me know if this is a big NO NO.

definatly a big no no :shocked:

as chris said the clay will remove any old wax/traffic film/contaminents. the born to be mild shampoo is good stuff so fear not dude you've got some good gear there :wink: just crack on with it and enjoy yourself :grin:

before and after pics are a must  :wink:

Got another Q

I have read that you should apply a few layers of sealant, in this case the Jeteseal. If I do a couple of layers on the first session and then wax the car, is it okay to apply another layer of sealant on the next session a couple of weeks later on the previously applied Dodo wax?

Also any point of applying the glaze again on the next session before the sealant and wax?

Just want to know how often these products that lie beneath the wax should be applied.

jetseal is good stuff and will last 6months + if your doing 2 layers, on your next session i would just apply another 1 or 2 layers of wax unless it needs the full monty again in which case do your normal procedure then glaze/seal/wax.
