Hi, not sure wheather to put this in mk2 or mk3 section so I'll try here first.
I've got a mk2 & mk3 next to each other in my garage atm and the mk3 does not seem significantly bigger than the mk2 if at all. I read a lot about the mk3 being a bit $#!t due to its extra weight, I think mk2 is around 1000kg and mk3 a whopping 1200kg. I'm just wondering where all that extra weight is? Could anything be safely chopped out of a mk3 to make it significantly lighter? :undecided:

10kg at least in each door for the reinforcing bars.
Then the steel in the dash and all the extra sound-deadening, plus extra standard equipment. It all adds up.
