Title: heater blows fuse when attempting to turn on
Post by: dub-addict on 05 March 2010, 22:42
Hi all

I have been trying to get my heater going for god knows how long with little luck and it seems that all it wants to do when i flick it on is to blow a fuse (14) Any ideas what the problem could be. im stuck and errm cold too

pop the bonnet and remove the blower vent grille then check the blower motor spins freely. if its siezed wiggle it by hand to free it off while giving it some blasts of penatrating oil on the bearings. eventually it should free off a bit, then plug it back in  and put it on full blast, give it some more blasts of oil till it spins nice & quick.  i had this on my cabby and doing the above freed it off, and a year later  it still works just fine :)

ok, this would suggest a short in the wiring or perhaps the motor is dead. try disconnecting the 2 wires from the resistor pack to the motor and try again. if the fuse still blows this suggests an issue with the wiring to the motor, if it doesnt this suggests the motor itself is to blame. more likly the wiring has rubbed thru somewhere tho id say.

Sorry to butt in...

Being lazy and seeing this thread, does anyone still do the blower assembly new, as mine squeeks like fudge and is doing my tree in

Cheers
