well i am having all sorts of dramas with my electrics on my mk1 GTI and i cant seem to find the source.
when my lights are off and im driving in daytime and lets say i indicate left, the left tail light and left headlight parking light comes on at the same time.
I have looked at the earths at the rear but they are fine. but im not sure were to look in the front to see were its going wrong , any ideas,is this common, anyone had this before?'? . I could really use some help here, pretty please  Im one click from going crazy lol

could try steering column switch or to check earthing get a bit of wire and ground it to chassis then remove tail light cluster and touch the other end to the negative [earth] on the cluster then try indicators if there ok then its the earth wire

How much nylon are you wearing? This could effect the systems with static and all that... well you told us to stray down here so, there you go

I would say wires touching myself. Im sorry but im way of my depth here lol

hmm thats an interesting one! I wonder if its the parking light system thats gone wrong. if you look at the back of your ignition switch there is a grey wire to a pin labled 'P'. If you can pop that out of the plug and try again then see if that sorts the issue

There is an earth wire at the bottom of the steering coloum, that goes from the coloum to the steering-rack, but thinkning about it, the horn wouldn't work if that was knackered, have you tried that? (it'll take 2 seconds, open bonnet, look at wire, close bonnet)
cheers
