Title: Trip Counter under total mileage figure
Post by: golfwannabe on 05 March 2010, 12:03
Hi,

Am I being totally retarded - I can't reset the trip counter located in the clocks?? I've held down the little stick but it does bugger all... Its on about 350 miles so I know it's been done at some point not too long ago (only had car a few days)

If this isn't working, could this probably be related to the fact that my red door lights don't work??

Help really appreciated.

Hah!

I was trying to reset memory #2 (admittedly and foolishly while driving, but it was on a straight road  ), I eventually got it to reset after a bit of faffing. I can't remember how I did it but, maybe by going onto another display instead of the current MPG?

Try going onto each of the displays for memory #2 and hold the reset button down.

I would go outside and give it a go, but I'm recording my MPG figures from a full tank to almost empty.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but I don't mean the computer trip related screen with MPG, Average MPG, Trip 1 and 2 etc.

I'm talking about the trip mileage recorder directly under my total mileage readout, i.e my car has done 105,000 miles

If I press and hold the stick that comes out of the dials it doesn't do anything???

Anyone know how to reset the tripometer???? Not the computer trip meter on the stalk, the one where you press the stick on the dials???? If I press mine it doesn't work - I'm slightly concerned as neither of my doorcard lights work and the glovebox light doesn't work either - could this be related?

Well the way to do it is simply hold the reset button for about a second (the right button, near the milage display).
Been as that doesnt work and neither do the lights, im guessing theres an electrical problem somewhere which i dont have any knowledge of lol. Have you checked all fuses? I would start by checking every fuse.
Any other electrical problems?
