Just wondered How much a full bonet respray would cost. Anybody ever had this done ? would the colour match be perfect ? Can anyone be reccomended in the Sheffield area.
Thanx in advance

Price depends on who with and location.
Colour match also depends on colour. They should be able to blend it into the wings/front. Not an easy job in certain colours.
-
What if I said its White is that an easy colour
-
It would be an easy job in that the panel is completely separate from the rest of the car.
As for colour matching I'm not sure. I think horizontal panels can reflect the light differently from vertical panels and I've seen some cars where the bonnet appears a different shade due to this, even although the paint is exactly the same. So if you get it painted it might be the same colour but might irritate you thinking its a different shade. Just something to be aware of.
Incidentally why are you getting it painted? I've only had my car since October and you would think someone has shot the front with an automatic machine gun. I don't drive any differently from my previous cars yet the bonnet on them only had 3 or 4 stone chips, this car would take me a few days to count!!

Das Auto, I can recommend F. W. Wallace on Fitzwilliam Street in sheffield, they are not cheap but do a first class job. I had a full body respray done by them on a Saab I owned a few years ago and it was excellent [Metallic paint as well]. I know you're not having a full respray so colour match is more important; but don't they match it using spectroscopic analysis these days so that you are bound to get the right colour? [Or as near as makes no difference] What colour is it by the way?
-
White is a pain. As i said they can blend the paint in onto the wings front to help the colour match rather than just do a panel.
-
Im want it done because I have made a balls of a couple of touch ups. when sanding the primer I have scratched the surface only about the size of a 2 pound coin but i know its there and its annoying as hell. mind u i wonder if that would just polish out ???

www.detailingworld.co.uk (http://www.detailingworld.co.uk) is that way --->
Probably will as long as you haven't went right through the lacquer.
I went on machine polishing tuition yesterday and they rubbed steel wool over the bonnet of a test car and these were all able to be machined out.

Might get Autoglym Super Resin polish out later then try that first

Das I know a guy in retford who does bodywork as his main thing. Ive had plenty of bangs and knocks with my car and ive never had a bad word to say about his work or him. His garage is always packed out with classic cars and ferrari's having 1 job or another done to them.

the guy isnt the cheapest but you can be sure of a 1st class job. I assure you of that. You wont be telling the difference

Das did you ever get a quote for a full bonnet spray?
My bonnet is absolutely atrocious. Can't believe that is only after 5 months!!

Ditto never had a car mark so quickly..........

had a quote for 290 to be honest a good detailer will sort it for you. my valeter polished out all the scratches on mine so i would try that first. but if your bonet looks like someone has shot it with a AK47 then I would have a respray.

My new Alfa had it within weeks...my MK V after 4 years only has (serious) marks on those badly designed Monza alloys...

Mine is way past the detailing stage
It is right through to the bare metal in literally 100 or more different places although there is only a handful that are relatively big.
