My dealer called to let me know that my car arrived and is fine and well with all extras on there that should be but he mentioned that there is no Dynaudio labels on the speakers even though it is something I spec'd. At first I thought the system hasn't been added but then the dealer said he switched the radio on and it came up saying "Powered by Dynaudio" or something like that so he's happy its been added. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing the speakers labelled in a picture at some point but just looking for clarity. Maybe its a new thing that the cars now come without so any noob GTI owners that can help would be great. I would like to have them on if they are missing. Will I get them easy enough??
-
You should have labels on the front speakers ask for him to show you the dilaog print out of spec or send me reg number once you have taken delivery and I can check to see if he is telling porkies as he may have just had the dyaudio starting screen put on your unit to hide the fact he miss ordered it.
-
Isn't there a large amp under the front passenger seat??
Maybe you've just be de-badged

I'm under the impression that the Dynaudio speaker slook different to the standard one, regardless of whether or not the stickers are present?
-
Yes the dynaudio speakers look like all dynaudio speakers do. But that would meen taking the door card off to see the speakers behine the grills.
here is a photo of the passat door.

Notice the cone material of the midbass driver and the slots in its dustcap a dynaudio trademark.
-
Casabian, if you look on the VW website at the available specs for the GTI, if I remember correctly there is a picture of a Dynaudio speaker showing the logo/badge. I'm not an expert but if mine comes without the Dynaudio logos on the speakers I wouldn't be happy.
-
There you go,
On top of the label "dynaudio" you have the twitters that are circle chromed, which you do not have on a regular sound system

Hope this help, good luck !

I'm still abit concerned about my lack of Dynaudio labels on my car because it's making me think I don't have the system at all so I called the dealer and he informs me that they no longer fit the speakers with the Dynaudio name and logo. I think this is a load of tosh. Can anyone confirm this??? I'm booked to pick up my car on Tuesday morning so the first thing I'll be doing is checking for the amp under the seat. Is there anything else I should be looking for to help me find out it has been fitted for sure??? Where do I stand and what are my rights and options if say I find out it hasn't been fitted???
Any advice would be appreciated for a rather worried soon to be GTI owner

The headunit should have a dynaudio label on the screen when it boots up.
The amp under the passenger seat.
If you cannot hear the difference then the only other way is remove the door cards to check the midbass speaker cone looks like a dynaudio cone as shown im my previous post or look like a picture on dynaudios website as dynaudio cones all look the same. It would not suprise me either if the dynaudio tweeters have a dynaduio label on there rear.
-
If they have stopped putting the labels and surrounds on the speakers, wouldn't that be on the build changes list?
-
Casabian:
I personally prefer not having the Dynaudio logo plastered all over the car as I think it looks a bit kitsch.
Brand-on-brand advertising can cheapen one of or both of the products.
I think VW may have felt the same!
Alternatively, they have run out of Dynaudio speaker grills!

Just look under the passenger you sould see a big bit of hard plastic thats the amp shown in my photo, as for the rest as above

I got a print out of the photo so in the case of the amp not being there I can show the dealer when he says "hmmm, I don't know what that is" or "they stopped using amps" or some nonsence like that.
Thanks again for the advice guys. Much help

Bet they have changed the hiding place and you only find out after you have him by the b***s making him say "your the daddy"

On mine, the Dynaudio logo is highlighted in red. I'd be very surprised if Dynaudio suddenly stopped manufacturing their speakers without their logo.
-
If mine turns up without the logos on the speakers then I'll be asking for money off!!!
I don't think it cheapens it at all - it just lets people know that you've paid for the speaker upgrade.
If it had HUGE logos all over then it'd be tacky, but the Dynaudio logos are tiny.
-
There's speakers all over the car, the only place it shows 'dynaudio' is the tweeters at the front. the front foor and rear passengers sides are covered, only at the rear can you see the mid's and they are not branded with the logo, they dont need to be.
-
Has your dealer registered the car yet so I can check on dialog the excact spec from factory.
I would be 99% certain they have ordered the car wrong.
-
Given that those who have dynaudio say its so much better than the standard system i would have thought it easy to hear whether you have it or not.
-
It is easy to tell if you are used to high quality audio equipment, I have just checked Dialog and it has been built with Dynaudio but must have forgot to put the speaker covers on very strange.

Maybe they ran out? Shame if they don't do them anymore.

So I was right!
They either ran out or felt they looked too kitsch!

Thanks Evo. You must be going for VW employee of the century with all the great inside help and advice you offer. Cheers again, I can stop with the panic attacks now

Got mine last week the Dynaudio logo only appears on the tweeters nothing on the main speakers. Booked my car in for next week as when you turn the volume up on anything that is bass heavy the doors vibrate and rattle like mad. You would think after the mk5 they would have sorted this out, what is the point of putting a 300 watt stereo in a car that cant handle it. My dad's car is a A3 with bose and never rattles at high volume well done Volkswagen poor build quality yet again.

Mine doesnt do that, so the car can handle it. But yeah, just because yours is f**ked up lets blame VW for the entire build quality.
-
i have no problems with rattles either in mine. and i have mine on LOUD

I can conclude that my Dynaudio system has been fitted like Evo said and even though my dealer told me there was no labelling of the system he was wrong. There is the Dynaudio badge on the front tweeters and it's on the 510's start up screen aswell and thats it. There is nothing else on any of the other speakers which is ideal for me. Looks very modest and discreet until you turn up the tunes and let it roar.
-
How it should be  Enjoy!
-
It is a good system
