Title: Getting back the gleam on the bonnet?

As recently mentioned i recently picked up a GTI MK 2. The paintwork is in quite good condition. The bonnet has lost it's shine
Any thoughts on how i can get it back.

lost its laquer???? sounds fooooked if it has, what colour is it? is it metallic? pics please :grin:
