Hi there basicly I'm new to the mk3 side and use to have a mk2 but I've got a 2.0l 16v mk3 has a doner car and I'm puting it in my mk3 rollin stones is there any guides are for a 2.0l 16v conversion. Right to the problems can I fit the abs from the 16v and also the aircon.I don't have the immobizer fob so I can't start the engine on the 2.0l is there a way around this other than buying a new fob? Bypass it or is connect it? And in my rollin stones it has a rear side window smashed... how can I get the window out as the seal/glued in and how do I go about fitting it? As it must have speaical glue? Any help would be great! thanks luke

i know u can get the ecu done so u wonjt need the fob i dont know how much it cost i have read about it some where also abs im not sure about but i know air con would be a pain in the arse all the heater contorls would have to be changed and that so aint realy worth it
-
Right forget the abs and aircon then could I put a manual switch in the end of the immobalizer?
-
What reg is the 2.0 16v? Is the immobiliser a factory fitted one where the chip is in the key and it has the ring around the ignition barrel? Or is it actually an aftermarket one which requires a fob?
Air con is a complete waste of time, ABS isn't really worth the hassle either.
However I have to ask, why are you putting a 2.0 16v engine in your car when you could just go and buy a GTI?

Mike's guide: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=124485.0
As Joe said is it worth it.

I'll have to check the key it has a green and red light system on the dash and the lights red and won't start but when green it does or did should I say. Er.. we'll a project and cheaper tax and defo on the insurance I bourght the rollin stone as it was black nlacked out windows full leather and now I just won't more power so I bourght a perfict gti 16v with loads of goods like alloys suspenion uprated brakes crystle lights front and rear and many other parts I only payed 100£ for it no mot or tax
-
Will it be cheaper insurance with the 16v fitted. :undecided:
-
Another dickhead that's not going to declare his engine conversion to his insurance.. well done prick.
-
Thanks for the guide mate and thanks for the abuse as I'm young 20 years old and I payed 2200 on a mk2 gti 8v t.p.t.f so can you gess what it is on a 16v. And I have no claims bonus and clear lisance o well never mind it going to take tim,e to do the conversion so I'll be 21 or so I'm goin to see what the insurnce will be and when its affordable I will declair it as its my pride and joy
-
Was the rolling stones edition, a 1.4 or a 1.6??
If it's a 1.6 then the tax isn't going to be cheaper, it's going to be the same price pmsl.
If it's a 1.4 then by saying "cheaper tax" proves that you're not going to declare it
And by the way I'm younger than you, I'm 19, and I could insure a VR6 Highline for under £1200.
-
we should start somthing to get these people that dont tell there insurace about engine sawps off the road
-
Who you insurned by then because I cant find nothing like that.
-
Bell. They specialise in people with low NCB. I only have a years no claims.
-
ok cheers mate I'll gve them ago are they specialists on mk3 AS IF 2K I will declair it. It not my full intenion of not declairing it as I wouldn't want any one not to be payed OUT
-
Got a quote from bell 2300£ on my gti16v as I'm 20 but if I was 21 the it would be 1900£ so affordable and will be declaired if I do the conversion now. the lady on the phone had said about postcode lotto is to do with the price being so high
