My RA's are looking pretty tired, covered in bits of baked on brake dust, and all of them are curbed in some manner.
has anyone refurbed their bbs ra's before? including filling the curbed rim edge? can it be done easily by sandblasting them?
Im only saying this because they are quite difficult to clean, let alone sandblast? im just wondering if its feasible to do at home, or is it worth leaving it to a proper company, who are going to acid dip them, and fill them properly?

mine are same...tried all kind to get rid of stains from years of brake dust
i was thinking about masking edges and only spaying the spoked area since the last tyres fitter stuck weights on outside of wheels
fcuking idiots

I'd say the time and money spent on doing all 4 wheels at home has gotta exceed the amount you'd spend getting it done professionally, plus at least you know they know what they are doing.

yeah, ive seen some amazing results from lepsons, but i cant help but think that if i sandblasted them myself and prepped them, getting them sprayed would only cost me £50 from a mate...
Will they be easy to blast tho? My mates got a 2.5hp compressor, and a cheap blasting gun...

I think if you using cheap gear, you'll get cheap results. Thats generally the way things go imo.

I've just had mine done at Lepsons for £220 all in after a bit of negotiation.
If I added up the time I would have spent myself getting them to the same better than new standard, then worked out how much I could earn doing my proper job over the same period of time, the wheel refurb seems pretty good value.

im a student so i have little money, but vast amounts of time on my hands.
so im going to have a go at stripping them down with a sandblaster, then see if my mate can remachine the rim edges. then il primer them, and get someone to spray them properly.

Used a scotch pad some thinners and the right paint can. I was lucky I had no major curb damage.
Rush job but I think I got away with it
