Title: Air Vent settings not working :(
Post by: 1996BlueGti on 03 March 2010, 18:21
So I have had my golf for going on 1 month now and am slowly learning about the car and LOVING it..

My question today is this:

The airflow selection dial on the dash has 4 options. Windscreen, feet, feet + front, front only.
However mine is working to a point of only having 2 settings. The one is windscreen and on any of the others selections I have a pathetic flow of air coming from feet and front vents simultaneously :(

any suggestions please...

One of my old mk 3 's was like this, i think something had snapped at the back of the unit. I replaced the unit and it was ok.

I have taken apart the whole control unit thing... The metals leads behind are still attached..

Do you think fixing it may involve removing the entire dash?

Long shot but check the pollen filter, if ok then drop the lower dash (pass side) and see if the flaps are moving as they should.
