Title: Hey guys, i'm new with an Oak Green MK2
Post by: j_jza80 on 03 March 2010, 13:02
Hey, I'm Jason and i've just bought myself a 3 door Oak Green MK2 Golf GTi 8v. This is my first Golf, although i've previously owned a 2.0 16v and a VR6 Corrado.

I've recently started Uni, and wanted something fun, practical and cool to drive and this fits the bill perfectly. Needs a little work but overall is a great car. No rust on any of the body panels which is a bonus!

This is she:

(sorry for the picture quality, my camera didn't like the glare yesterday, although i'll get some better pics posted up soon)

I also have a Jaguar XJR, although i'm selling it as it's too bad on fuel for a student!

Previous to starting uni, i drove Toyota Supras. My last one was a 500hp single turbo one, and the first was a 450hp twin turbo.

My last one (closest) and my first one (furthest)

I have loads of pictures of my last Supra if anyone's interested. Was really well spec'd with Leather Recaros, Garrett GT35/40R Turbo, Aragosta suspension and the full TRD catalogue of engine/transmission mounts and suspension bushes.

And my previous Corrados:

And my 2.0

Anyways, with the introduction over, i'm going to be looking at modifying the Golf suitably for a driving Holiday this year. I'm planning on going to Italy, via the 'ring and Stelvio. Not really looking for any extra power, just a decent brake and suspension package. I'll start a thread in the relevent section on this though when i'm ready.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope to become a constructive member on here.

Cheers, Jason.

Welcome.

Hope you're not disappointed with the lack of power in the MK2.

Welcome.

Hope you're not disappointed with the lack of power in the MK2.

 I don't find it that bad. Not really that quick in a straight line compared to what i'm used to but it's great fun. What MPG do you guys see out of these 8v Golfs? I can't remember the last time I owned a car that was even half decent on petrol so I hope i'm in for a nice surprise! Was very shocked at how big the fuel tank is in it though, I put £25 in it earlier and expected over half a tank, and got nothing like that!
