Title: Hose id and part no anyone????
Post by: Lisamk3 on 02 March 2010, 13:22
Hey all,

Another leaky hose.........Can anyone tell me what this hose is/does and does anyone know the part number? It's split in at least two places and got a bit of oil...well quite a lot actually....leaking from it.

If you look on boneybradleys "common faults and fixes" thread the engine bay pic shows the hose i'm on about clearly. It's got the blue tie thingy round it, coming down from the crankcase black box thingy.

Sorry about the lack of technical terms.......still learning!

Cheers guys.

Its the oil breather pipe, have just replaced mine you get the rubber bit at the top and also the hard plastic pipe that goes into the block, the part number is written on the back of the hard plastic piece,it was about 30 odd quid from vw,and mind as you take the old one off as mine was gunked up beyond belief where my car has been running cold.

Ok cheers guys, much appreciated.

Thought the shoddy runnung was down to the throttle body needing a good clean, that's what I was lookin at when I discovered the splits on the breather hose.

Am I still ok to drive the car until I get the new one or is it best not to?
