on a fully standard car...... should u be able to hear the turbo whistle.... when u boot it then let off ???
ive been reading that this noise psssssssssssssst could be a duff diverter valve.......? cars 2000 45k miles......
vagcom is throwing up "pressure drop between turbo and throttle valve"..............................?
-
Have you also looked for a boost leak?
-
checked pretty much all pipes up around the diverter valve etc.... but all seem ok............?
should this pssssstt or woooooosh noise be audible on a fully re-cirulating turbo car when u acclerate and let off.............?
-
You will hear it.
17705 :lipsrsealed:
Could be cracked re-circulating valve or a leak - check the pancake pipe joints for signs of oil
-
I found my old standard valve the other day, looks fine but I can blow straight through it and that was 52k miles when I replaced it
-
thanks for replies....
can the pancake pipe be easily viewed from lifting the bonnet or is it a raise and look underneath job.............?
also been getting this code recently.............17608 - "boost presure control valve" (N249) - mechanical malfunction
would this possibly have anything to do with a faulty diverter valve.............?

pancake pipe is behind your drivers wheel
as for the code, have a search, you'll find loads of topics as it's a sore subject for AUM/AUQ owners
