Post by: jocarl11 on 01 March 2010, 17:05

depends whether it has gone through the laquer and paint to the primer or just laquer etc. run your hands over it and if you can feel a decent hole then it may need fillng/spraying/touching up. (cosmetic section is that way >>> as i dont think its only mk3's that have paint  :undecided: )

Without respraying it, it will never be perfect. You could try Autoglym paint renovator (best I've found) but if the scratches are deep then you have no chance

if you can feel it with your nail then you can't get rid of it unless you respray.

Ive used Maquiers Sratch X remover when a massive thorn in a country lane decided it was would to be nice to give my a car a long gash down the side. I really was worried it wasnt going to come out but this did the trick so thats my advice.

Well i could feel it when i run my nail over but the scratches are thin but lots of them! I think i will try autoglym first, Hope it doesn't need spraying coz i doubt i could do that

Megs Scratch X is very good and a bit better then Autoglyms stuff for scratches though. Ultimate compound is the hardest you can get by hand but I'd steer clear from it.

I'd Scratch X then Autoglym the rest of the panel.

the reason the megs scratch-x is better is because the compound granules disintegrate the harder you work the polish... this means that you never just continue to scratch the surface as you work it... it does its job so it is very safe

in answer to the OP's question.. the best scratch remover I know is Dubplate Dan

im personally not sold on the megs scratch-x im pretty sure its just got fillers in it  ive done the rub between the fingers test and it feels like theres now abbrassive granules in it, also tryed it by machine aswell as by hand and its not upto the job im afraid but thats just my opinion.
