Title: brake shield thingy...

hey guys ht a pot hole today and the shield type thing at the back of the break disc has snapped off and is hanging loose, how important is this thing and can i pull it right off will it be ok to drive it till i get a new one?

will be ok to drive without it, just check everything else is in good order. it is there to protect the breaks to a certain extent+ to channel air to cool them as far as i know, may have other uses too but will be fine to drive at least temporarily until you get a replacement.

Bin them...
They are there to stop stones and water getting in...but also stop cooling air getting in.

Every new VAG car I buy, I have them removed and binned in ther first few days.
