Has anyone else on here had the smell of burning oil come though the air vents after been driving for a while ive had this for a while drive for 10 miles or so then stop then you can smell it theres nothing leaking checked under the car
-
check the oil breather pipes, these tend to get gunked up and can cause a smell through the vents... also check the pollen filter under the scuttle pannel.
:afro:
-
where abouts are the breather pipes located
-
they go from the rocker / cam cover to the intake tube, mine was split underneath right next to where it joins the cam cover tube. Should be a 1" black rubber hose coming off a stub pipe on the top engine cover mate :)
-
cool ill have a look tomoz was told it mite have been a leaking seal in the gearbox causing oil the leak on the clutch and making it smell
-
As a few other people have said check the breather pipes.
-
i get exactly the same !!still havent figured out what it is.ive fitted new breather pipes and a new heatshield on back of engine that covers the cv/driveshaft because it was missing.
it smells when its warm and you stop.havent done pollen filter .was going to clean the heatshied on the bulkhead in case theres some grease on there.otherwise ?????
-
also,it smells like gearbox oil or cv grease.
-
thats what i thought it smells like gearbox oil
-
gearbox oil smells nothing like burning oil, so how does the smell, smell? gearbox oil smells like rotten eggs
-
It's a long shot but it may be oil you've spilled whilst putting it in? I stupidly did this without a funnel and had this smell for a few weeks until it all burnt away lol!
