-
No need to worry about the MOT its not tested for the MOT.

Nope, the air bag isn't included in the test like Paul said.

check the connectors under the seats to the seatbelt SRS system, they come apart and cause the airbag light to come on.
but not part of the mot as already said.
-
thats ok then save me messing around. last owner had the wheel off and said court the flat wire that rap round the wheel to the air bag or some think when i had a look its split right across. if that makes sense
-
aye thats the "clockspring" that connects the airbag to the ecu harness so the wheel can turn and not trap a cable, it needs replaced of course but you can do it when ever, or disco the battery, put a 3ohm resistor between the airbag harness pins and reconnect the battery, bingo, no airbag light.
No airbag either tho. The passenger one will still deploy with the resistor fitted.

thanks for that i think i will give that ago. get rid og the light then

you might still need the stored code cleared mate after the resistor mod, most ecu's latch the airbag light on once theres a fault detected, even if it clears. This is to pass safety rules for euro and us legislation.
A simple code reader should clear it though, or a vag cable & laptop.
The battery being off might do it automatically, does in a lot of japs, not sure about the golf ecu tho

thanks i will get the resistor mod done tomorrow if still on when put battery back on will plug it in to my vag and try that way
-
hi dose any one no what watt resistor i would need?
-
quarter watt or half watt is fine mate, the current is low, its just to fool the airbag controller into thinking its still there.

thanks alot mate

ive got a factory resistor if you want it, it just plugs straight into the loom (from where there was no airbag fitted to the passenger side, but will plug into the drivers side)
If you want it just pay for p+p

I'll take it if OP doesn't need it, thanks
