Hi just a quick one . can someone tell me the kurb weight (in KG) of a MK3 jetta 8v ?? and maybe the US vr6 glx too seeing as they were never avail in the uk with a vr6.
I have fallin in love with the jetta thanks to a recent issue of golf+ and now just have to get one  but I am slightly concerned about the weight.

if your worried about the weight, strip it out or something

It is what i would normally do  i have a stripped and caged mk1 to satisfy my light weight needs but i always need a skinny lightweight even tho its going to be my "daily cruiser" well my aim for this project is to have all the comforts but make it as light as poss at the same time with carbon fibre panels etc.
\i know its never going to be light but i will try my best to lower the weight or keep it stable. if that makes sence

well they are pretty much a mk3 golf, so tugboat
only thing i can think of is, stripped to bare metal, bucket seat, just lighter parts, maybe new lighter engine?
-
well i found out of vwvortex that a US spec jetta glx vr6 is 1208 KG
so i want to fit a 24v vr6 and i think thats lighter than a 12v.
plus lighter panels but keeping a full interior.
i think i could keep it a smidgen under 1200 or what do you think ?

and go on a diet, eat dust

I'm almost positive you could get VR6 Ventos (mk3 Jetta) in the UK. There have been a few people with them on this forum and I know guys from here who have imported them from the UK.
-
Yeah you can get vr6 ventos,i had one
-
oki easy  i will get a vr6 vento then wuhu :D i have never ventured into the vento/jetta side of dubbing so i never knew there ever was a vr6 version in the uk lol vento virgin, thats me

The good news about Ventos/Jettas/etc is that they share nearly everything with their hatchback cousins. Only things that are different are some boot-specific parts, exhaust lengths and in the case of mk1-mk4s their front ends. That and booted VWs are super cool
