Hi guys iam thinking of swapping my mk3 gti for a mk3 vr6 mines a p 97 and the vr is a L not sure if i should what you guys think
-
Mileage much different??
-
What sort of car you looking for? vr is more of a cruiser car, is epic on a motorway. Not as 'nimble' in the back roads as a gti but still handles well. In the vr expect an average of 25 ish mpg aswell.
-
The VR could be due a timing chain change being a older car.
-
Yeah definetly check to see when, or indeed if, the timing chain has been changed. It will cost about £700 to do professionally and would want to see proof of it.
-
well the guy had the head skimmed cos the head gasket went so i guess he must have dont it when he had the head off
-
i wouldnt do it
not unless the vr is minteroonie
-
I'd snap his hand off it it has tax and test!!

Not really as to do the chains, the gearbox needs to be removed.

thats what i'd be thinking, not to mention all the service history...
Sure, its nice to have more power, but not if it breaks down quicker and possibly you have no idea how hard the car has been driven....
