Title: car jolts when i break suddenly.....???

when i break hard, even when the vehicle is rolling it jolts forward as if the body is not at one with the wheels and breaks... puzzlin me..


im hoping its related to my front bushers which are badly worn and which will be replaced shortly..

anyone experienced anything similar??

views appreciated...

Yep worn wishbone bushes most likely. If you lean out of the window enough to see the wheels you can see the wheel arch head towards the wheel at the back slightly as you brake... don't do that on a main road obviously :grin:

i really hope it is this bcos it will kill two birds with one stone....

im sure with some half decent bushes the drive will significantly improve

as said its the wish bone bushes just has mine done get the anti roll bar bushes ckecked at the same time these are prone to going.

My wishbone bushes were ok.

BUT

The following needed doing instead.

Front Wheel bearings
front shocker mounts
rear axle bushes

and for good measure i told garage to change the thermostat.

car did improve, however the knocking and jolt movement were still occurring.

So i dropped of to garage yesterday, i told him to double check front bushes, its turned out it was the anti-roll bar bushes....  not driven it yet as im still at work..

but my bro picked it up for me and text me saying "its a gud drive 4 its age"

sooo il take it for a spin tonight and feedback the final verdict...

took it for a spin, much much better, im lovin my golf even more...

it was the anti roll bar bushes.... onwards and upwards...
 :rolleyes: got rear brakes and discs to do next, front brakes probably soon...
