depends how you do it. you can avoid import tax from anywhere if its labeled as a gift under a certain amount. Although im not too sure on importing stuff in and taxes and stuff.

have a look on foreign ebay's for them and see the prices first.

you might find some over here that have been made. i.e. standard uk bootlid cut and welded to look like a US spec one.

Yes but the chances of finding one in the uk is remote unless you get lucky on edition38.

aswell as owning an 8v i also work for ups, you only really pay import vat if it comes from out of the EU. Some people do try and say its a gift, but it doesnt always work.

You will get stung if it comes from the states

Hmm don't i just know it, ive being caught by the US export charges twice now which made my transactions more expensive than buying the items here and theoretically pointless!

As long as the seller states £30 value on the custom form and marks it a gift you should not pay anything.

£36 is the maximum gift Value for import outside of the EU, just had to whine at Fed Ex for trying to charge me duty on 3 Bottles of wine sent as a gift due to the fact my friend sent it from his company total value CHF 36.
It is getting really tight on importing "gifts" due to E bay trade, Mr tax man wants his pound of flesh

i know when i've been over in europe, i have seen mk3 golfs with a square looking recess (like the US)...... think it might was in geneva (swiss car) but either way, you gotta try and find it over there too!

seems like its easier to cut and weld it yourself!
