Going to give this ago, front only. Just fed up of manual windows and leaning across and unwinding the other window. Its probably been covered before but i cant find all the info on it, so im asking.
I need door cards with switches and the window regulators/motors. What about the loom, does the mk3 have all the loom there ready no matter what model or will i need to get ahold of the loom. Just need a list of what is needed really and i can figure out the rest.
Also, might as well do leccy mirrors at the same time?
cheers :)

mate
you need
switches
new door looms
regulators with motors
to do the rears you need:
Switches for doors and dash
both door looms
front dash loom which replaces the loom you already have their but it has conections for dash mounted switch
regulatiors and motors
early cars hgave different connections to later cars on both doors and under the dash wher ethey connect to the A pillar
just doing the conversion to my rear doors, got the looms onj their way and just awaiting for a guy to remove the regulators from his car for me.
not hard just faffy

theres a post in the maint section by RM telling you how to do it. Its simple.
I have most the parts if you need any as i got half way through doing it before i got the GTI.
It will be highly unlikely that your car is geared up for it by having the loom or the fusebox connections.
I have..door cards, handles + switches, door wiring looms for both front doors, the dash wiring loom with thermal fuse, the electric mirros (without backs) as you might aswell change them aswell as they are in the same circuit, i have the motors and regulators to but i think im going to hold on to them!

For the front windows, even on a 5 door, do you need JUST the door looms?

Here's the thread about how to do it > http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=114540.msg1036451

like i said its highly unlikely, but depending on your model you may have a combination of things. i had nothing, no door looms, dash loom or fusebox connections.
