Hi all some of you may remember me, a few months back I owned the Golf GTi loved it but not massively. Unfortunatly was invoved in an accident and it got wrote off  bit gutted as it was a project I was looking forward to seeing threw. After smashing the GTi up I thought I would move on to a car that I thought I would be confortable with as standard save money on modding, so I baught a BMW E36 Coupe. How ever the modding.... well what can I say lol guess its in my blood lol I couldn't help my self. Lowered it 40mm rear 60mm front, clear m3 front and side indicators about to get m3 rears, also gave it alot of TLC, engine clean up, interia tarted up etc.
Any how I still have a majour soft spot for the Golfs lol every time I see one it makes me think of selling up and getting a mk3 again. I know most of you will say get a mk2 but I love mk3s and always have. never grew to atatch to the one i had before as it wasn't one I chose so was never happy on the colour and always wanted a three door.
Ok straight to the point what would you guy's do stick with the BMW a car i know runs like a dream and is almost a finished project or sell up for a mk3 again? Not after the obvious answers from a Golf forum lol GET A GOLF! lol just the actual answer to what you would onestly do in my shoes. Cheers guy's sorry for long read, pics below for a reminder of my old GTI and my current E36 with list of mods done so far.

wernt you thinking of breaking it and selling all the parst for some reason?

Yep, I've had 5 Mk3 Golfs, and I'm now bored of them. I fancy moving onto something different. I won't get all my money back if I sell it, so best idea was to sell the mods seperately, then I'd have enough money for the car I do want. If I could do a straight swap for a car I wanted then I wouldn't mind so much about the money I'd lost, cus I'd still be happy :)
-
always loved e36 coupes, but then when it comes to e46 i think there is too many coupes, and like the look of the 5drs and even estates, m3 spec
-
I would keep the BMW.

What sort of car was you originally looking for then Joe, a BM? was looking at your prog thread and noticed you had done your roof lining and pillars black. just about to do the same to the BM today, black swade.

Im in to minds at the moment, duno weather to just stick it out with my E36 Coupe as its a good car dont have a problem rong with it apart from its due an oil change but im getting that done this weekend. And then in june july look at getting a E46 as you can pic them up for around £3500 now. Or get a mk3 again for the fun factor for the next 12months or so.
I would keep the BMW.
Cheers wyne, thats prob the sensible option. Duno if im just going threw a board of my car stage again lOl. But Joe has thrown a spanner in the works asking for a swap lol so tempting. think my inshurance would go sky high on a VR6 tho :( the BMW and GTi were the same.
-
Joe's is not a VR6 :lipsrsealed:
-
that BMW looks like a reps car from the 90's. not a fan at all

-

plus i need your moral support when i have doubting moments with mine :D
you know ya want to :D
-
Yea mine's not a VR lol it's a 1.6, but it still goes well. And to be honest I'd swap it for anything within reason!
-
You shouldn't have let them write off your MK3.
-
Hey, nice to see you back!
Never been a fan of BMW's... never been in a properly sorted one though..
Anyway, if the bmw is a project then finish it and get a golf when you fancy the change back to something good :afro:

Thats good news to hear, just about to go take my BM in for a new battery and oil change today. It dont have no service history But dose have all recipts of things ive had done to it pluss about 9 months M.O.T and can honestly say runs like a dream no probs other than needing new battery, your car is a beauty Joe, i know mines a BMW but wouldn't you feel your getting abit of a poo deal as mine looks so standard compared to yours and all the work you've put into yours?

cheers matet  thing with the BMW is there aint much of a project left realy the mod's are very few compared to the list of roots you can go with a golf. mines lowered clear lights and about the only other thing left is leather seats and performance mod's. could go the m3 look route but im not a massive fan of the m kits as they look abit boxy and verry 90's looking.
-
some of the m3 wheels look pretty sweet.

Cheers man. Nah I don't think it would bother me really, yours looks a tidy enough motor, it's already lowered, and you looked after the Golf so I know you've looked after the BM aswell and it shows in your pics. Plus I've always wanted a 2dr coupe, all the BM's up here were crappy 4dr ones!
