Title: How much oil for 06 gti with filter change??

Hi guys,

going to get the garage to change my oil and filters but was going to supply them with the oil, castrol edge 5w 30 seems to be the stuff, but how much do I need for an oil and filter change? It seems to come in 4 litres only.

pretty sure mine took about 4 1/2 litres, got some left in the 1 litre bottle for top ups.   :wink:

This is correct , mine took 4 half litres Castrol edge brings right up to top half dip stick :wink:

So why don't they sell it in 5ltrs containers?
What type of oil filter did you get?

I dont know the part no for the oil filter, but its got to be a VW , the oil is Castrol edge 504 spec = 5-30 ww :wink:

Costco used to sell it cheaply in 1 litre bottles (packed into 3) so if you get 6 bottles you'll have 1.5 spare for topping up.

What are peoples thoughts on Comma's 5-30 oil as it comes in 5lts containers and  is specially formulated for VW'S?
Is it reccomended to flush the engine out prior to putting the new oil in or is that a needless additional expense?

Should be ok as long as its 504 spec 5-30ww !! Comma do some good products :wink:
